New Ubuntu can install same partition as windows, uninstall through Add/Remove Progs

Hi, I need help on this!

I had installed Ubuntu on the whole partition of my hard disk.

Now I want to remove it and reinstall WinXp.

However when i boot from the WinXp disc, i got the following error:
“Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer”

Is there a way for me to get back to WinXp?

boot up to XP console, run fdisk /fixmbr
or use a dos boot disk and do a fdisk /mbr

If possible, you would use Ubuntu Live CD.
Boot into the graphical environment,
go to System->Administration ->Partition Editor

Find and delete your linux partition on your hard disk.

With unpartitioned space, your windows should be able to detect and install.

Windows Setup would detect partitions, even though it is formatted in a filesystem that is not recognised by Windows. It would be marked as "unknown partition".

Check your BIOS if the harddisk is connected. If it is, check if you require additional drivers to be installed when Windows Setup is being loaded (aka. the "press F6" part in the beginning). Usually, SATA drives in ACHI or RAID mode requires drivers to be loaded. You can switch to IDE mode if you prefer, but there may be a very tiny performance hit. These settings are done in BIOS.
