Acronis True Image Personal Gangster Sep 29th, 09, 05:58 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi All, I have this Acronis True Image Personal Edition from Western Digital Harddisk Promo. And I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit OS. I have tried backup and restore from bigger hdd to smaller hdd and also smaller hdd to bigger hdd. After restoring in both cases, both the hdd have startup error. Error message indicates that there is error in the file called "Winload.exe". In the error message, I was advised to boot from the windows installation cd and run the repair windows via the cd. After running the repair, windows can boot as normal as a recovered OS stated in bootlog.

Anyone has any same encounter? And how to resolve eventually?

Thanks.

As far as I know, you cant restore a different size/cluster disk from the Personal Edition. the Full Home/Enterprise do support this feature though.

But, I may be wrong in anycase...

Try partition to partition .
use acronis home edition version 9709 or 9776 also can.

Hookup 2nd HD as slave . Restore Image from to 2nd HD.
