I feel Pro is more worth it for the feature for Win XP compatibility

FYI, you cannot use WinXP mode to play games, as the Virtual graphic drivers sucks big time.

So unless you using WinXP mode for some productivity software then go for the cheaper option of Home Premium.

Isn't it you can download virtual pc and install yourself?
Download Windows XP Mode

And VirtualBox or VMWare is also good alternative to Microsoft Virtualpc.
