Problem with scanning photos Blucifer Jul 27th, 09, 02:26 AM #1 (permalink)
hi,

i am using an AIO printer with a flatbed scanner, but all my images have these multi-color thin bands across them. my old scanner had this problem as well. is there anything i should know about using a scanner?

my current scanner shouldn't be dusty as its only 1 mth old and the banding appears across whole image.

why is the image like that? it was scanned in 300ppi

attached is a screenshot of what m referring to :

advice pls!

well, then i know the problem.

ur page of a book, or even easier example is the newspaper is printed at a lower resolution than normal prints, u use a magnifying glass you can see there are rather big dots / pixelation on the image.

So even if how nice the picture is, its still printed, so if you scan at the maximum resolution, it will be pixelated.

The best way is actually scan high, then unsharp mask, downsize.

its the source issue, if u try it on a photo as in those 3R/4R prints from developer, do a prescan, then a full scan, you still have that, then its the scanner issue, and from what i see, u seem to be doing max out... have u tot of what is the output u want?
