Olympus EP1 Exz Jul 30th, 09, 03:31 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi Guys,
Im a seasonal photographic hobbyist who owns D40 and now thinking of changing to Olympus ep1. It looks cool, so much smaller and has almost all the DSLR capabilties. Anybody has any idea when it is going to launch and how much is the starting price for it?

Any comments or input is appreciated.

Exz

The Olympus PEN uses micro 4/3 system

And from what I gathered, there is currently no macro lense yet, but probably in the near future there will be....

you can use an adapter and use regular 4/3 system lenses instead of the micro 4/3 lenses... Not that many lenses out for m4/3 system yet but that will change as the system picks up popularity with consumers.

The camera is already out in the market for a few weeks.... This is what I have gathered for the pricing:

Body + 14-42mm len cost around $1298
Body + 17mm len cost around $1448
Body + 14-42 + 17mm len cost around $1598

Not many m4/3 lens are out there yet. You can buy adaptor to fix your nikon len to the E-P1 but I am not sure about the downside of it...

Do take note that the E-P1 does not have a viewfinder and an in-built flash system...
