still pretty reasonable for a good lens with constant aperture.

I doubt, 3rd party lenses doesn't have fast responsive AF nor do they have Canon USM or Nikon AF-S servo motors speed. Overall, my old gen Tamron 17-50 f2.8 isn't that bad, as i normally shoot static stuff. Doesn't backfocus or front focus.

probably can run Nikon 17-55 as well... wonder the weight of this... but the Nikon 17-55 is kinda heavy.

but if say, a 6mp vs 10mp, ur final output is 2mp, i don't think there is any diff.

agree with u on this point, end of the day depending on your final output...

of course, comparing between 17-40L, EFS 17-55 and tammy 17-50 all @ F4, 100% view, all are comparable (at 6mp on 10D), but the tammy lags behind once i've switched to (10mp on 40D)

but for $600 bucks this is a damn gd lens, and im still using it... well, it's more about knowing the strengths and weakness of the lens and utilizing it to the fullest =)

Will they make a similar lens for 4/3 system? I need something to replace my Olympus 35mm f/3.5 Macro Lens. This is a good lens for money but I need a zoom lens in the 35mm range with macro too.

anyone else thinks its feels plasticky and noisy, and the focus hunt is quite bad?
