Need Tips For Food Photography. silverkick Sep 20th, 09, 10:22 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi, I am a budding photography addict. Currently using a Fujifilm Finepix Z10fd. Taking a lot of food photos lately as I simply love the macro shots.

But I would like to improve it further. Any good tips especially for food photography? Thanks!

I post a few pics which I have taken.

imo i find a bit too much contrast and saturation making food looks plasticky

@silverkick: how about trying a shallower depth of field so that even if the background is messy, the viewer's eye is focused on the subject you want them to look at?

the main prob is your background, making the food looks disgusting. Setting lower DOF improves the quality of it. However i suggest you pick other food as they seemed abit too contrast like what gollum said. Those food you picked not really suited for photoshoot

thanks for the feedback guys. all the shots are just based on what i happen to see when i eat. so yeah. will use the idea bout increasing the depth of field and also clearing the table before i take a photo =)

oh yeah, i think the idea bout softening the contrast is also good. maybe its a personal preference that i like to contrast my photos alot.

how is this photo that i've taken? better?
