As a key developer of the Blu-ray format, Philips is launching a GoBlu campaign to upgrade consumers from standard DVD to Blu-ray for the ultimate high-definition home entertainment experience.
While Blu-ray players typically retail at a premium, Philips is committed to making the Blu-ray experience affordable to consumers. The campaign allows consumers to trade in their old VHS/DVD player of any make to purchase a brand new Philips BDP3000 Blu-ray player at only S$299 (a S$100 discount off the recommended retail price of S$399).
Blu-ray technology maximises the high-definition (HD) viewing experience, which is five times sharper than standard-definition (SD) found in DVD disc players. The Philips BDP3000 Blu-ray promises razor sharp images, delivering Blu-ray movies using the 1080p progressive scan format at the same amount of frames per minute (24fps) as used in the cinema, with exceptional detail, sharpness and colour saturation.
Blu-ray also delivers uncompressed surround sound for a truly immersive cinematic experience, enhanced by Dolby TrueHD which produces audio that is virtually indistinguishable from the studio master.
The Philips Blu-ray player can also be connected to the Internet, to receive up-to-date content and explore interactive possibilities including exclusive downloadable content, live events, live chats, gaming and on-line shopping.
Next to playing Blu-ray, DVD and even VCD, the player is DivX Ultra Certified and will play all commonly used formats including WMV, MP3, WMA and JPG.
Philips Blu-ray players and DVD players are also equipped to recognize and cope with over 300 common faults such as fingerprints, scratches and unbalanced discs and can play virtually any disc you have.
The Philips GoBlu campaign promotion is available for a limited period only from 25 August to 30 September, at all Best Denki, Harvey Norman and Courts outlets islandwide while stocks last.
