How do you differentiate between fake and original Figmas / Nendoroids? The boxes now all look the same and all of them are made in China.

Paintwork, finish and price. Good quality paintwork is too expensive to mass produce cheaply.

You want an example of fake go to Vivocity and look for the Death Note nendos.

figma so far didn see any bootlegs... only nendo got a lot...

Fakes can be seen at vivo or Chinatown point and China Square Central's flea market.

Look out for sticker, difference in box and quality of the figurines, get them from reputable shops.
Look out for super cheap prices and missing items also...

Get a small and strong torchlight to shine into the box, to inspect the paintwork.

ok...from what i heard, even some original don't have the stickers. is this true? also, how to tell from the quality of box? some boxes for the fakes look identical to that for the real ones.

lastly, perfect paintwork? i heard that even some of the original might have imperfect artwork as they are mass-produced by machines, so cannot rely on paintwork. Again, is this true?

Heh we who preorder can be picky bastards even with the originals. That's why collect your preorders early and inspect the goods on receipt LOL.

Fakes generally are identifiable instantly from the paintwork. Put a real and fake side by side and you will be able to see the difference straightaway. The colours are generally muddy/off and the outlines not well defined.

Best is like what DF said, compare with what you know is original (online pics).

rather than idenifying fake goods, best bet is to get from well-known sources such as TnT, kknm and latendo.

onliine stores would be hlj and hobbysearch etc.

actually saw ************ selling bootleg miku nedo at EOY 08. is freaking good in quality i tell u. but the back print of the packaging is too contrast as compare to the real stuff.

I also saw the Exclusive WF version of Haruhi/Mikuru/Yuki bunny suit ver Nendos in the EOY..

Too bad it looks cheap even for a 50 :X

so its mainly the colour of the figures? bad colour = fake? the box as far i can tell from you guys its very difficult to spot. as for comparing with the real 1...hard to see unless u print out the real 1 from the net. besides, if i just randomly felt like buying a figurine, this method is kinda hard.

i just found out that a few Alter 1/6 Figures are fake as well despite them having a holographic sticker. what the hell, they even copied the stickers....
