Interested to get a Wii and search online and found that there are local, US, Japan and Korean version. Very new to Wii, anyone can enlighten me what are the difference in all the version? what are the advantage and disadvantage of each version?

ya lor i also duno how to see whether its no mod, soft mod or hard mod.i checked w a simlim retailer but can i really trust them? each of them got different explanation. whats the diff between soft hard mod and how to see and test them before buying? thanks in advance for those who can ans this for me...

Hardmod is soldering mod chips on your Wii's mainboard while softmod is flashing your Wii to a custom firmware.

The advantage of hardmod is that virtually no updates will be required to play pirated games as it tricks hardware into skipping disc authenticity check. But hardmod is more expensive and if the soldering is not done properly, the Wii can be damaged.

To check the hardmod, you have to request your Wii to be opened up to see the modchip.

Softmod is much cheaper but you'll need to flash your Wii whenever new custom firmware comes out (similar to PSP) and of cos there's the possibility of bricking your Wii.

i just bought a wii this afternoon happily go home tot can play but when i going to plug in the av cables i find that my lcd tv only have 1 yellow plug for video which i use for scv den when out to get one of those cheap splitter den both scv and wii signal is very poor and tv is having vibrating noise

anyone can help me to solve this porb?

Jus download them ? U can actually try TheGameLane in parklane , they do sell wii friendly games , but will take 3-4 working days to deliver it to u , 5 pieces for 25 i think.

i go round asking, and found out some selling $450 with 3mth warranty and got another shop selling $488 with 1yr warranty. and got another selling $388 with mod and 3mth warranty.

Abit confused..... what is the standard warranty offering for local set?

thegamelane.com is no more in existence...cannot even contact the owners - Matt Chan and Desmond.

Both are very active in this forum before mid Sept, but seems like disappeared into thin air suddenly. Bought the 2yr-extended warranty from them for the Wii, now it is useless.

So, beware of these small shops, and youngsters, even though they are given good ratings for that period.

Get Wii from the reliable shops.
