Left4Dead Tournament Questions - VRForums - SITEX 2009

Hi everyone! I'm Darren and I've been organizing events for around 6 years now.

I'm considering organizing a Left4Dead event for the community sometime in late March. I've started this thread to check how well received this event will be, and how many people are interested. Please take part in the poll in this thread, and post any ideas and improvements if necessary.

The event will consist mainly of 2 types of tournaments:

i) Campaign Mode Speed Run (Faster campaign mode completion)
ii) VS Mode ( Team VS Team)

Registration will be team based, with 5 members (4 players +1 substitute) per team.

Considering that most people here aren't from Secondary/Primary school.... I think March holidays doesn't really apply

Well the campaign mode speed run will be difficult. The director AI is much too random to compare speed run. If you get a tank encounter and the other team doesn't, it would make all the difference

I'm good but like the other forumers have stated, the game is alittle random.

With server mods, its actually possible to control the AI director to make the game more predictable, guess the TS needs to be careful with such things

Just host a VS mode tournament will do,the VS mode now is balanced for both side without having the randomness of getting a tank for 1 side and the other side not getting it,which means if your side get a tank on the 1st 1/2,the 2nd 1/2 they will also get a tank,same goes for the witch.
The campaign speed run mode is completely random IMO.

Survival mode.

Maybe can try that if it is not random, who can last the longest.

Maybe play as survival in Expert Mode.

Let see which team is the fastest to finish the campaign. And of course all team members must survive....Left No One Behind=)

Tank in expert = molotov and run like hell

I think campaign expert mode is quite easy for seasoned L4D veterans. It would all boil down to luck...
Versus is all that's fun in L4D, co-ordination and outsmarting others
