I was selling my laptop on VRForums:

This person, Joseph messaged me to buy my laptop.

Below is the message log:

Joseph: Your lg r405 still available? Price can nego?

me: Still available but looking at the price around 900. wats your offer?

Joseph: 900

me: 900 is ok. But i will reach home around 9pm. Me staying around Telok Blangah area. Can you self collect?

Joseph: Yes Deal. But can meet somewhere central?

me: So u confirm the deal? If so then i will get my bro to format and image the laptop back to its original setup u need to deal today or tomorrow also can?

Joseph: Today. Can deal at 7pm at bugis?

me: Sorry, im off work only at 8pm. I give u discount 20 dollars if u want to self collect around 9pm.

Joseph: ok i will self collect.

me: messaged him my address

Joseph: Ok Deal.

me: Can i know wat time u will be collecting?

Joseph: 9pm sharp


I rushed home taking taxi just to prepare the laptop at 8pm. At 8.36pm, he messaged me.


Joseph 8.36 pm: ok. May i reconfirm the spec again with you.

I called him and told him the specs.

Joseph 8.46: Sorry can deal tomorrow?

me: can. time and place?

Joseph: Anywhere central i can meet you? Around afternoon or before 6.

me: Ok somerset Mrt 1pm.

Joseph: No reply


Next day, i brought my laptop to work. At 11 am, called Joseph. He said that he is still considering. I asked him wat he meant by still considering as he already confirmed my deal. He said he will revert back in 10 mins..

After that he is not replying my messages or picking up my calls.

I sent him 2 messages:

1) Give me a call asap. Either u buy my laptop according to the deal or i will be sending u the charges for the imaging of laptop which you agreed on.

2) I dont know if you are missing my calls on purpose cause u promised to call back in 10 mins but just to inform you that i will be reporting this case to the police as scamming with the messages as evidence if i dont get a response from you by tomorrow.


Tried calling him the whole day. Hes not picking up the call.

I tried googling his number, seems that he did the same thing to another dealer @ PHP website.

i have deal with him b4.. imo, a typical laptop dealer. first bidded my singnet laptop for 920.. then last minute on the day of deal itself change his bid from 920 to 800. i got so frustrated but we manage to negotiate to deal at 880. he even showed me a list of his so-called list of sellers in a notepad that claimed offers for the snbb laptop to be abt 700-800. he can say sl400 cost ard that price, but its unacceptable when he talked abt the price of sl400 when he wanna get mine for upgrade to the more expensive x200.. tbh i dun give a shit, it may be a typical set up, running out of time.. so just deal with him..

Ok i will now add my neutral point of view after having just deal with josephjun85, 97666657, on saturday 16 may

he wanted to buy my powerbook g4, smsed him on friday say i will be in bugis area on saturday at 2-4pm.

He agreed and say ok deal at 4pm at bugis on saturday.

then on saturday at 3.11pm he sms me say confirm later deal at 4pm, i replied yes.

at 3.48pm, just 12 minutes before we are supposed to meet, he say he will be SLIGHTLY late (yes, his exact words from his sms) and will meet me at 4.30pm. wow, thanks for giving me 12 minutes notice that you will be 30 minutes late. and to think he considers 30 minutes to be SLIGHTLY late.

at 4.30 i called him. no answer

at 4.36 he called, say he will reach in 10 minutes. say its raining and got traffic jam. i look at the sky in the area and dun see any sign of rain.

at 4.56 i called, no answer! whatever happened to "going to reach in 10 minutes"

at 5.02 he called say he reached! wow, thanks for wasting one hour of my time!

he looks at the powerbook, check for dead pixel etc, and decided to bargain abit, offer me $280 instead of my asking price of $320.

i agreed to let go $300, then he took out the $$$ to pay me and ask me to produce ID.

i ask him why, he says hes actually a dealer, and he is required by law to ask for ID.

he also gave me his name card, and say his shop is at 28 upper weld road, and if i need to buy new laptop can call him or go to his shop.

Hence now it is confirmed that josephjun85 is indeed from the same company as hellobonnie who runs the shop selling laptops at 28 upper weld road.

however when i ask if he was going to sell my powerbook at the shop, he say for old models he buy in to export, only new ones then he sell at the shop.

deal went quite smoothly, except for the fact he was 1 hour late and came up with lame excuses to stall for time.

looks like he like to bid at a 'high' price then later make discount etc. usually at the last minute..typical dealer. hence i never like to deal with dealers.

if you sell ur electronic stuff like laptop, mp3, handphone etc to a shop they need ur ID...

hence josephjun is like a runner for the shop at 28 upper weld road...
