It was my first bad experience at VRForums so to speak.
Posted selling my 8800Ultra a couple of months back, so LewisTan called me to express his interest in exchanging with his card with top-up from him of $20 at first.
Thought its a bit too low and we discussed and agreed on a price of $35 top up and a used silverstone 12cm fan which he himself thrown in out of 'goodwill'
Met up with him the next day, which is a saturday, behind Albert Complex. I was late and he's nice enough to travel down to do the trading.
Went back home and test the card (Powercolor 3870X2)
Problems surfaced:
- Unable to display fonts when loading games like Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Half Life.
- When playing full screen videos or playing games at full screen, glitches and lines were seen.
Thought it's the drivers problem, did a clean reformat of my C drive and install everything from scratch.
Problems still exist.
So i gave him calls on sunday which he didn't pick up at all.
lol then i got paranoid and googled his Handphone Number.
He's jujubeans and found out that he has a bad trading rep back then.
Kept my cool and wait till monday, bought the 3870X2 to work the next day(monday)
Contacted him again and this time round managed to reach him. Told him that i will be meeting him @ his place after work because i forgot to pass him the receipt the other time. (was in a rush as i was late the other time)
So after work, i took the train to Toa Payoh and took a bus down to his place to meet him.
Phew! He turned up and i told him about the problems i encountered when using his 3870X2 and wanted to do a exchange back.
His face turn sian 1/2 and mumbled that he has already fixed in the system liao la.. and i told him cannot lah.. i give you a 100% working condition card and the card you gave me is faulty and insisted on the exchange.
He then invite me to coffeeshop to grab a drink first. (i began to notice his shifty eyes liao
)Sat down and he went to order the drinks. (somehow i got a feeling he got something up to his sleeves)
So i walk over to the drink stall and told him i want to change drink.
When i turn my back around, he fled into the dark, HP switched off.
So i was left there standing.... dumbfounded.. loss for words lor.
So i called up Booest (thanks bro!) asking for advice. Although Booest did not know me (we only met once during a Thermalright MO) He tried to help me in this situation and i am very THANKFUL to him.
Thanks to him i have managed to RMA the card!

Now waiting for the card to be back though... it's been 2 months =(
