Need help! Cloudiax Dec 6th, 06, 08:04 PM #1 (permalink)
Guys!

I need to setup a new Intel system in my office. The budget will be 2K. I wanted a FULL system, inclusive of a widescreen LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse and headphones.

This system will be mainly used for video editing, photoshop ,etc. It will be at around amateur level. It must have firewire and wireless network card.

I have came out with the following settings but I am not really sure if the motherboard is too "overboard". It is kind of expensive!

Intel E6300 + Asus P5B Deluxe/Wifi-AP - $639
Kingston DDR2 667 1GBx2 - $340
Seagate SATAII 7200RPM/8MB 320GB - $162
LG GSA-H12N 18X DVD Writer - $69
Leadtek PX7300GT 256MB - $139
TASK 480W Turbofan - $69
Floppy Disk Drive - $12
Coolermaster Centurion 5 - $95
Logitech Internet Pro Desktop - $25
Samsung 20" 205BW 6MS/DVI - $549

Total: $2113

Abit over budget, so I need your help to adjust the setup. I think the cause of it is from the mainboard. I am still lack of a good headphone.

Please advice.

Maybe later when the price is lower and if it is needed.

But currently on a 2K budget and I have already overshooting it.

Any suggestions on the mobo?

IMO..this config the HDD and grfx ESPECIALLY the hdd will bottleneck the cpu..mayb u want to cut down on ur cpu+mobo and get another hdd for RAID?

Erm.

Do you know what is video editing? It requires much more processing power when it comes to rendering.

Cutting down the CPU and mobo, might as well don't buy new system.

Like I have said, HDD can be added along the way. Unlike other parts, especially CPU and mobo. As for RAID, currently I have no plans for that, somemore got no money to play with.
