DX9.0b vs DX9.0c On GeForce 6800 Ultra Visionary May 25th, 04, 02:52 PM #1 (permalink)
I have tried out the latest DirectX 9.0c on the GeForce 6800 Ultra card but apparently Shader Model 3.0 has not been implemented yet as evident from the DXCaps Viewer

Here are some performance comparison between the DX 9.0b and DX9.0c :

3DMark2001SE : DX9.0b

Aquamark3 : DX9.0b

Conclusion :

No performance boost on the 3DMark2003 but a little for the 3DMark2001SE and Aquamark 3.

So far I checked there is only DX9.0b at MS's DX webby. Where can get DX9.0c? Is it a Beta version?

in my opinion it does not matter too much. perhaps future games that stress on pixel shader 3.0 will have more effects though.

Quite obviously it doesn't give any performance boost on X800XT either.

Did you use SP2 or the 'ripped' DX9.0c zip? If the zip I guess you installed it in safe mode.

fuqqa, 2001 is all about system bandwidth/CPU power - A64 obviously outperforms 3.2C.

example:
On my 3.5G P4 rig X800XT scores around 22k at default clock - on 2.3GHz A64 it scores nearly 28k at default clock
