Help with my mid-range A64 rig rayoflight Jun 15th, 05, 08:33 PM #1 (permalink)
Editted...

ASUS A8N SLI + Venice 3000+ $478
Maxtor 80gb 8mb $105 (purchased)
LG DVD 4163B $89 (purchased)
Xpertvision 6600GT 128MB PCIe - $299

Geil PC3200 400MHz Heat Sink 1GB kit $189.00
Or
Corsair PC3200 400MHz 2.5 $165

Right Now I Need You Guys To Recommend Me:
- casing + power supply for about $150

Hope that this spec is good enough for me to oc to about 2.4ghz...
I also hope that I don't have to fork up more money :laugh5: ~budgut~

hmmm... both are good rams...
the Asus A8N SLi deal is great even if you dont intend to SLi..

here's what i would get instead...
Asus A8N SLi + AMD64 3000+ Venice - $478
Corsair CL2.5 2x512mb - $160 + $13 = $173
(if you want heatspreaders get them from enegizer bro for $6.50/piece
copper heatspreaders!!!)
Xpertvision 6600GT 128MB PCIe - $299
HEC 6AU6 casing w/ 300W PSU - $95
(sell off the 300W PSU for around $20)
Silverstone ST40F PSU - $79 (vr offer)
total - $1104

original amount - $1097
thats around $7 more for a better rig with a nice casing and... with a 6600GT!~

Corsair PC3200 400MHz 2.5 $165

Leadtek WinFast PX6600TD GeForce PCX6600 128MB DDR PCIex $219
Or
XFX GeForce 6600 128/256MB DDR PCIex $230/$250

Should be getting a $50~ casing
Hmm, thinking of getting Geil PC3200 is because it comes with Heat Sink...Which do you guys recommend? :laugh5:

Total about $1200+ $1300

Comments?

wow...thanks seems great! thanks for your comments... btw do you guys at heatspreaders to your rams? so I should get a Corsair or Patriot? both are life time warr right? so which is the better choice?

That actually exceed my budget but it's great! Hopefully I can save up to $1k by the end of june.. before the a8n sli promotion ends~

Btw can the siverstone ST40F PSU is good enough for me to do oc? just normal oc... not those hardcore... and where is it avaible?

all the stuff can be bought at DAT. pls ensure that you print out the discount before you go...

the silverstone psu is a 400W true PSU... should do pretty well...

i would go for corsair... better quality rams for slightly more...
heatspreaders are not needed... but they do make your rams cooler and look better...

Just get the Corsair ones, cause it's cheaper than Geil unless you want to OC.
