I mean, although physically it has a full PCIe x16 expansion slot, electrically supports only up to x4 bandwidth.

Thx

My friend (translate.google.com) helped me out.

Get wat u mean bros... Infact due to the pcb size on itx design, many fall-short to electrical limit... e.g. Zotac-9300 itx lack of APCI HWmonitoring support etc... Well, size matters. Always a trade-off there..

Very nice... More for home-theatre/hifi console placement. Can't do vertical standing for more versatile destop placment (small foot-print)... 5.25" ODD is always a problem to be placed vertically
.

DD Special: Transformed aka "Pls Don't Del thread" Rig dr_disciple Jul 6th, 09, 02:50 PM #1509 (permalink)
After a wonderful weekend and a very convincing message, the Ultimate ITX rig is finally up. Just a brief of what is being used.

1. AMD Phenom II X3 720BE
2. J&W 780G MINIX Mini-ITX board
3. 2 x 2GB DDR2 800MHZ SO-DIMM
4. Force3D ATi HD4870
5. 4 x WD 1.5TB
6. 2.5" IDE HDD
7. Topower 750W Modular PSU
8. Abee T20 Casing (Chocolate Brown Anodized)
9. Uvanium 120MM fan.

The accessories.

- Screws are nice and heavy. Like Soldam, comes with the logo on the top. A nice touch from Abee when they gave an allen key to unscrew the front. Casing is firm and thick. No bending when i flick the front panel around. VGA cooler and Additional HDD cage are very very shiny. Mirror finish shiny. Too cheap to pay for case feet so using the rubber they provided

The Installation

Here's the easy part, putting in the items without the cables. First we have the board, HDD, PSU. I tried to mount ThermalRight's True Black 120 but failed. Rams and onboard HSF blocking the monster. Will be in search for a better cooler, in the meantime, AMD's Heatpipe cooler is the best out there right now. 4870 fits nicely in the system with the VGA cooler.

The Horror: Cables and routing

Ok, reached the stage of putting in cables. SATA, modular cables and modular power cables. Horror I tell you...horror!! 2.5" on a 5.25" bay was not ordered, will do so next round. In the mean time, the OS drive will have to hang loose. Some cables are routed on the other side of the casing. Tight but doable.

Size comparism

Lined up - Soldam X3 SOJ / Soldam XCube / Soldam Polo CD / Creative DTS-100

Well, thats all folks. Hope you enjoyed it. I'm still in the mood to hunt for the big ass cooler for the setup .

The spare 2 x HDD cage is blocked by the vga..hmmm..time to change to a shorter card to fit few more hdd.....

color is abit off. Maroon or Brown, the camera can't really capture. Even in real life, it looks abit maroonish. But the build is solid. Comparing with soldam, it feels just as good inside out. .
