Note:
1) After testing about 100 discs (mostly Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R as I've got a ton of them) burned in 2003 & early 2004, quality mostly in 90-95% range. Only major failure was a batch of 15 Verbatim 2x DVD-R from same spindle).

2) No overspeed, no overburn.

3) I handle/store my discs carefully - in cupboards, clean, kept in proper jewel cases, stored upright, etc. Only thing I don't do is monitor/maintain low humidity. Room is airconditioned 6-12 hours per day. 3 month exposure to the elements, when my room wall was torn down during renovation.

4) Didn't do much testing in the early days (no tools, little knowledge) other than basic verification & manual playback. My HP DVD200i had to be RMA 5x within a year, so I'm guessing my initial scans weren't stellar quality.

1. Use the later version of CD-DVD Speed, latest is now 4.01 or 4.04, yours is too obsolete to measure errors properly eg. note there isn't any PIF errors at all.

2. Scan at 8x (for BenQ burners), yours is set at max but it's doing only ~1.1x.

3. DaxonAZ2 is well known to be very variable, both in quality as well as in price locally. Quite a few batches have the nasty PIE humps as in your 1st scan.

But hey, thanks for your effort in sharing.

Reason - ATM, I don't think 16x media is worth the money over 8x@16x media. MCC004, RicohR03 have both been disappointments when compared to their 8x brothers in terms of quality and bang per buck.

Quite a lot of PI Failures but none shoot over 10.

Man... this guy's PI Failure is so far the least of all my these 6month scans...

Ok lah... 1 more week and they will be 6 months old...

Hey that's quite cheap though, for the fact that Sony 8X discs are going at $1 per disc in cakeboxes. BTW what actually is Accucore? I have Sony CD-Rs and DVD+Rs and they all have these abstract names like Accucore and Supremas thing...

But on a more serious note, there seems to be a rather rapid drop in QS in this disc and this is probably attributable to a certain extent in the jump in PIFs at the layer switch - looks very bad for this DL media longevity.

I had always been wary of the sandwiching methods used in DL disc, be it stamped or recordable having lost quite a few R1 stamped discs over the years to D9 layer separation.
And with no avenue to replacing them locally...
