new build: 1366 or 1156? kuang3 Sep 9th, 09, 05:35 PM #1 (permalink)
Just asking bros if you think buying i7 1366 or 1156 will provide better value?

admittedly, i7 920 overall cost is more expensive due the x58 chipset, and maybe the triple-channel memory set up.

But i7 920 performs better in terms of clocks to clocks IMO after reading few reviews and benchmarks, thus the extra cost is justified. I could be wrong, so pls correct me if I am.

i am planning to build a new rig, and for the moment i think since i5 750 is a lot cheaper than 920, so my opinion is either i5 750 or i7 920, any bro mind to comment? we can exchange our opinions here.

Depends on what you're using the pc for.

take a look at difference in chipset/CPU architecture for both I7 and i5.

Then consider if your planning to do multi-GPU with extreme OC? if so its just take i7

else i5 would suffice.
testing?

I would recommend u to get i5

I have i7 with me and for daily usage and gaming.....u can't see any difference between i5 or i7

But one thing for sure is that the money out from yr wallet and pass it to the sale person...then u can see the difference....maybe 5 or 6 pcs of SGD50 notes more on i7.
