SSD is noramlly just to install for the OS.
it boot much alot faster than any harddisk.
but the cost, you can cry one.

looking at the hardware you choose. i guess you more particular on the hardware outlook. else why rampage2, xfx, haf932.

anyway, i recommend to opt for
- silverstone ft-01 (another good ALU casing)
- Seasonic M12D 850W (OEM & 80+ silver grade): performance is about comparable with Enermax Revolution series, but much more cheaper
- asus p6t se ($50 cheaper than rampage gene, and much more cheaper than rampage full atx mobo. why need rampage? or rather spend your $$ more wisely)
- xfx hd5870- seems ok. the price not much different between diff vendors
- ram: anything you like, but just get normal ram will do, since you not oc
- hdd: not a bad choice for wd black edition. real performance gain from SSD doesn't return with the same amount of money you invest. in other words, you will lucky enuf if you gain 100% performance from a SSD vs HDD in real life.
- additional: Prolimatech Megashadow heatsink: this one is black color one. and is a must if you want a cool and silent pc. stock hsf cannot make it. the fan for this hs can choose yourself base on your preference.

Uhmx... for those bros claiming that SSD is not worth the money invest and suggesting to get Velociraptor or 15krpm HDD instead.

I recommend to have a read on this writeup done by our fellow HWZ bro in comparing SSD and HDD.
HDD/SSD speed comparison: why it is now pointless to compare speeds on mechanical HDDs - www.hardwarezone.com.sg

My advice is that if you have the budget, go for Intel X25-M G2 80GB for OS and frequently used applications, 1 TB HDD for storage purposes. Cant really go wrong with this configuration.

i7-860 or i5?
then he can get better gfx.
and a Velociraptor for his os.
and wd black 500gb for his normal storage.
since he never do oc. i7-860 or i5 should be okay bah.
unless he plan to upgrade to i9 next time lor.

Am looking thru some of the sls pricelist. I think i'll just stick to normal HDDs for now.
Not going to spend so much at a shot. Might upgrade to SSD some time down the road or when the price drops.
