What to you mean when it mention you can only install the licence key on office ready laptop?

sounds like your laptop should either be able to install office, or it comes with a pre-installed but unactivated office.

But do provide some background, where was it mentioned, and what are you having on hand?

Plus I think this should go under troubleshoot.

I believe most of the laptop come with pre-installed MS office (unactivated copy). When you purchase the license key OEM version, they only give you the license key without installation disk. This is why you need pre-installed MS office in the laptop.

what happen is that I need to use the outlook for commercial purpose which i will need to buy a licence.. but trying to see if there is a cheaper way out where i can buy the licence key and most state that the laptop must be office ready..

The version pre-installed on the notebook is also impt., I had to fully uninstall the pre-installed version on a Fujitsu notebook cos it wouldn't accept the academic serial number and install the DVD version although they came bundled together in a school mass purchase.
