Questions for amd rig ~.~ BabyB0y Nov 3rd, 09, 06:57 PM #1 (permalink)
I would like to ask,

1. What core should i go for if i want to go for oc-ing but it must be cheap~
2.Which mobo is suitable for the core above?
3.Is there a real need to go for dd3 rams than to ddr2 rams?

Thanks guys, no flaming thanks although i know these are stupid questions.

OCing? what specifically are you OCing for?
for sport? just to see how high you can get that stable clock without frying your chip
for gaming? to squeeze that last little bit of performance out of your chip
for professional software development or graphics design? so that you dont need to buy a render farm XD

1.This should tell you how many cores u need based on what rig is meant for

2. Get a cheap 785/790GX on SB 710/750 AM3
3. With spiraling prices if starting afresh and not ultra tight budget just go for AM3/DDR3 and go 2GB if u have to ^^

1) for OC, get any Black Edition (BE) will do. at least it won't limit by the multiplier locked on non-BE edition. the BE CPU are 940(AM2), 955(AM3), 965(AM3), 720(AM3), etc... visit amd website.
2) get any mobo with SB750. this SB is more handy in OC. i personally used MSI GD70 before, i can say it is a good board. well, it really much depend on your preference. here is a thread discuss solely on this GD70 mobo. be it OC, or anything else related to this mobo.

3) DDR2/3 doesn't matter here. just get the DDR3 (of cos muz paired with AM3 mobo), as it sooner gonna replace DDR2 like previously DDR2 replace DDR1.

HAPPY OCing.....
