ASUS 1333FSB BIOSes For P5B Series & Commando Visionary Jan 29th, 07, 05:35 PM #1

ASUS has just updated the BIOS of 965P MB series which enables FSB 1333MHz support to be found in Intel next generation 1333FSB Conroe E0 CPUs. In their email, they mentioned that ASUS 965P MB only needs some simple BIOS tweaking to do that unlike other brands which require hardware modifications in order to support FSB 1333MHz. It is pretty obvious that they are referring to GU. Basically Gigabyte did the hardware modifications with the release of the revision 3.3 boards while ASUS did the software (BIOS) method. Gigabyte has mentioned in our recent interview that it is better to do it the hard way. Gigabyte told us the key benefit of doing the hard method is that the memory frequency will be selectable from 667 to 1066MHz while the soft method locked it at 667MHz.

Have you all tried clearing the CMOS? Sounds like something I came across while using 410. Cleared the CMOS, re-did my bios profiles and it was all back up.
Have not tried 504 yet. Perhaps later after I slp and get back from sch heh.

1 bad abt 0504..
U cannot go backward...
I tried 0504.. had a bit of problem in overclocking..
so wanted to go back to 0304.. but cannot!!!

Now got the 0504 settle.. working the same as last time..
I realised the OC profile CMI...
I tried loading.. but oc fail.. have to key in manually then can work..

**Do not use AsusUpdate to downgrade BIOS. For such need, please use EZFlash or AFUDOS instead**
Message quoted from Asus.

For my case, OC profile works and OC is better than b4. When i upgrade from 0410 to 0504. I simply use OC profile and it prime for 8 hrs. No errors.

Ive got an Asus Commando and tried that 801 bios and STILL does not fix the freezing issue with my Corsair XMS pc6400 4x1GB sticks

It always freezes if i use dual channel mode configurations, but works fine in single channel configuration.
Just a note, i used the exact same ram in the Asus P5B-D and it ran flawlessly out of the box with this ram.

Does anyone have close contacts to ASUS to notify them? their tech support through their website is ridiculous, and useless. They never respond to any emails. Just a useless generic response.
They keep adding all these OC features and dont even fix the damn ram isses

I have found new info into this matter. I cant do dual channel mode on CHANNEL A ram slots, but it will work in Channel B.

But when it runs in dual channel mode in Channel B, the ram voltage runs at 1.8V but thats only in Channel B !!!!!!!!!!

Channel A dual channel config wont even boot. The system will not even post!

No issue here with 0504. Using EZ Flash and Flash Drive. All settings in 0410 remain working after flash.
