Lightbulb A quick 1st look: GA-G33M-DS2R, mATX P35 mobo (pic heavy)

Decided to contribute something back to the VR Forums after being here for a while. So I did something I haven't done in a long time, got my lazy butt off the chair and visited CDL/Derrick (thanks man!) to t-loan the above mentioned mobo. Going to leave the full review to the pros so here I am just posting what strikes me as it comes, hope you guys find it useful in some way...

Think it is probably the 1st mATX P35 available locally but I couldn't find much info on it on the www. Just got back and set it up for a quick 1st look,

Simple all black front panel headers,

    Tight corners around NB,

as well as video and RAM slots,

    Device galore on POST screen,

Most impt question everyone is dying to know, does this mATX P35 support enough overclocking to kill the present King of the Hill mATX C2D mobo? Check out the BIOS options then,

You want FSB you say... how about getting 700?

    More juice too?

    RAM it up next!

    Other BIOS o'c options,

Yup, still got to press that irritating Ctrl-F1 option to see more,

    Selectable PCI-e bus but 150???

    Monitoring,

Interestingly, 2 RAM o'c alternative profiles?

More of more options, can't complain at all.

Now at work liao. no figures no more nothing till I get back home and no, no have C2Q chip either - got to t-loan one if there are anyone has a few spares lying around. lol

Mobo already ran my 2 cheapo sticks of Hynix C 667s at DDR1000 (as reported at POST, RAM FSB at AUTO) clearing memtest86 no. 5 and 8 in DOS at all default volts, reported bandwidth ~49xx (? auto timings used)... I am shocked, to say the least.

Haven't gotten around to installing any OS yet. The manual says there are several Vista only features for this board, maybe got to t-loan Vista DVD to try out too? :p

Don't try to install OS yet. Try set memory divider at 1:1 and up the FSB and see how far can this mobo go

Try to set 2.1vdimm at memory at 5-6-6-18 and I think this hynix should not be a problem to go 500mhz @ 5-6-6-18@2.1vdimm under 1:1.

This might be the mATX board that can go 500mhz(FSB). If yes, then can ditch ATX mobo liao.

If u r busy, I can do some testings for u

Why do you think I had to get the real thing from CDL? Can't find any info all over the www so far. Anyway, it is using Realtek RTL8111B gigabit LAN and TI 1394a chips.

@LS, thought you have had enough of DDR2 testing... kanna itchy liao hor. lol
