ASUS X79 OC Challenge - Rules and Regulation

By participating in the Asus Overclocking Showdown, you agree to abide by the rules and regulations, as follows:-

    1) ASUS X79 OC Challenge is open to everyone who are residing in Singapore.

    2) ASUS X79 OC Challenge will start officially on 12 December 2011 and ends on 8 January 2012. Results will be released 1-2 weeks after 8 January 2012.

    3) Participants have to use ASUS P67/Z68/X79 motherboard.

    4) Participants are only allowed to use 1 piece of single-core graphics card. (eg. GTX 580 and HD 6970 are allowed. GTX 590, Mars 2 and HD 6990 not allowed.) Participants are also required to run their benchmarks with their physx disabled.

    5) Three benchmarks will be used:-

    6) Extreme cooling (the use of dry ice, liquid nitrogen etc.) is only allowed on the graphics card. All other components will be restricted to either air-cooling or water-cooling.

    7) Participants are allowed to change their setup during the ASUS X79 OC Challenge.

    8) All the three submissions (Super Pi 32M, 3DMark Vantage and PCMark 7) need to be run on the same hardware setup.

    9) Participants are required to submit a screenshot of the results for each of the benchmarks.

    10) Each screenshot needs to show:

    11) The screenshots need to be submitted in its original resolution, together with the PCMark 7 Score Link (The hyperlink to your PCMark 7 score. e.g. http://3dmark.com/pcm7/XXXXX) to competition@vr-zone.com.sg with the subject title "ASUS X79 OC Challenge: VR-Zone Forums Username".

    12) The ASUS X79 OC Challenge is divided into 4 weeks.

    • 1st week: 12th December 2011 - 18th December 2011
    • 2nd week: 19th December 2011 - 25th December 2011
    • 3rd week: 26th December 2011 - 1st January 2012
    • 4th week: 2nd January 2012 - 8th January 2012

Participants can submit multiple times but only the highest score for each of the benchmarks are taken for that week. Submission will be sorted into 1st week, 2nd week, 3rd week or 4th week depending on the submission date in the email.

    13) Points will be awarded at the end of each week for each of the three benchmarks. eg. John's submission: Ranked 1st in Super Pi, 2nd in 3DMark Vantage and 3rd in PCMark 7 gets a total of 20 + 18 + 17 = 55 points for that week.

    14) Points are awarded based on the ranking of the submission for that week.

    15) Participants are required to make a new submission for each week to earn points. The new submission for the week needs to be of a better score (eg. Super Pi score, 3DMark Vantage score or PCMark 7 score) than the previous week's submission. If the score submitted for the week is not higher than the previous week's score, no points will be awarded for that benchmark.

    16) Winner will be the participant with the most points accumulated.

    Points and Ranking

For total number of participants more than or equal to 10,

    Ranked 1st: 20 points
    Ranked Top 10%: 18 points
    Ranked Top 20%: 17 points
    Ranked Top 30%: 16 points
    Ranked Top 40%: 15 points
    Ranked Top 50%: 14 points
    Ranked Top 60%: 13 points
    Ranked Top 70%: 12 points
    Ranked Top 80%: 11 points
    Ranked: 10 points

For total number of participants less than 10,

    Ranked 1st: 20 points
    Ranked 2nd: 18 points
    Ranked 3rd: 17 points
    Ranked 4th: 16 points
    Ranked 5th: 15 points
    Ranked 6th: 14 points
    Ranked 7th: 13 points
    Ranked 8th: 11 points
    Ranked 9th: 10 points
    17) Only participants who have submitted valid entries for all four weeks of the ASUS X79 OC Challenge are entitled a chance to the Lucky Draw.

    18) In the event where two or more participants have the same number of points, we will make use of other criteria such as quality and clarity of images, activity in this competition thread and others to determine the winner.

    19) Winners of the First and Second Prize are not eligible for the Lucky Draw.

    20) VR-Zone reserves the right to disqualify any entries or make any changes to these rules and regulations at any time. All decisions made by VR-Zone in respect of this competition are absolute and final.

*Score refers to the benchmark's score. Specifically Super Pi score, 3DMark Vantage score and PCMark 7 score.

**Points refer to the points that are awarded on a weekly basis based on the weekly ranking.
