[longsiew]Biostar TZ77X E4 longsiew Apr 15th, 12, 10:28 PM #1

Just gotten this mobo this evening. The last I tested Biostar is their X58 series. After that, I did not touch this brand due to the technical support just giving standard template answer to me when I asked regarding the memory divider.

Well...Since I got the chance to test this brand again, I do hope their R&D does not 'strictly' provide bios support according to 'intel spec' since this model is T Overclocking series.

Accessories. Surprised that this package comes with CrossFire bridge. Most of the brand out there did not supply any CrossFire Bridge for their mobo even their mobo supporting CFx...

Clear CMOS, Power On and Reset Button on board. Easy for overclocker. And Debug LED on board, too

Testbed:

CPU: intel Core i7 2600k
Mobo: Biostar TZ77X E4
Ram: Gskeill ripjawsX 2133mhz 2gbx2 kit
GPU: MSI GTX470
HDD: OCZ Vertex2 60gb SSD
PSU: Thortech Thunderbolt Plus 850watt(80+ GOld)
OS: Win 7 Ent 64bit

5ghz at 1.62vcore set under bios. LLC at 100%. Full load about 1.47vcore -reading from CPU-Z

Set 1.62vcore under bios. LLC at 100%. CPU-Z reporting 1.548vcore

Full load about 1.47vcore. LLC at 100%. CPU-Z reporting

Despite of vdroop, LinX done

If u use LLC 100%. Whatever vcore u set under the bios, you will not get the exact value. I only found out u need to disable the LLC under bios to get the exact vcore you want and this is the later part when I testing 5.5ghz.....zzzzz....A little too late but better than never...So, to maintain at whatever vcore you want, pls disable the LLC under bios. If you are worry of the impact on the life span of yr cpu or mobo.....then this thread is not for u or oc is not yr cup of tea.

5.5ghz at 1.74vcore with LLC at 100%. Dual core only

After the pi32mil and 3d mark 03 run at 1.74vcore with LLC at 100%. I tried to run 3d mark 05 but always hang at GT1 no matter what I did. At first I tho its my ram up lorry but I doubt so. Then I tried to disable LLC and set vcore at 1.65volt. Surprisingly 3d mark 05 pass without any issues. After 3d mark 05, I re-run again superpi32mil and I noticed that vcore reporting from CPU-Z did not drop below 1.65vcore. This is totally different from setting LLC at 100%. So, those wanna maintain their vcore, pls try to disable the LLC

SSD bench. On ACHI mode. Intel SATA2 ports

Some bios screen shoot. No F12 print screen=(. Hope will implement print screen on newer bios

5 profiles for you to save yr profile but you cannot key in manually any alphabet or numeric figures...

There is still room for improvement for bios. When u are using the mouse, the cursor will not point to the direction you want. For me, no problem as I still prefer using KB...LOL
