Would most motherboards support the chip out of the box or further bios update would be needed. Thanks!

Pricing is out. Please let me know if you want to order by this weekend.

    Xeon E3 1220L V2 - 17W TDP, 2 cores 4 threads: 265SGD
    Xeon E3 1230 V2 - 69W TDP, 4 cores 8 threads: 305SGD (same price as i5 3550)

Note that Xeon processor comes with no cooler. It is local tray with 1 year warranty.

The Xeon is tempting... Thinking about it. :X

Well, I think it's a no brainer choice between i5 3550 vs Xeon E3 1230 V2. You get the 4 more threads that will yield considerable boost.

The 1220L is for very specific purpose. I am going to use it for zero dB HTPC.

Not a bad price for Xeon E3 1230 V2. I paid S$400 for Ivy Core i7-3770S retail box.

So the difference is the HD4000 graphics, 4W TDP difference and 2yrs warranty.
