I realised that the keycaps' stems are tight of some sort. Require some force to latch onto the switches proper and also quite alot of force to remove them. Are they supposed to be like that?

It's just QC tolerance. I personally have face keycaps that are so tight that it pull out the coloured stem! O_O
Have the tight and satisfying click when attach is very good in my books.

Slightly tight is better than loose. Trust me, I'm an engineer.

Ya I was also wondering whether there is some similar plastic cover like what Filco keyboards comes with.
