Mini write up: PC POWER & COOLING SILENCER 610W ragnarok95 Feb 24th, 08, 10:48 PM #1

Today make a trip to SLS, only have a single purpose in mind, and that is to get a PSU to replace my Antec NeoHe 500W. Dun get it wrong, my Neohe 500W still going strong, zero problem in fact, just that my backside itchy, want to try out other brand of PSU.

These are the brands i narrow down to.

Enermax Liberty 500W
Corsair HX520 520W
PC Power & Cooling 610W

The main purpose is not to spend more than S$220 on it. I walked inside PCtheme, all the PSUs i wanted was all right infront of me.
In the end, Only one manage to come home with me, and thats the PC Power & Cooling Silencer 610W. Liberty 500 is gd, but really no point since my neohe also 500W. Corsair is gd, but pricing wasnt attractive.

When i open the box, this is what i see. Very nice and clean arrangement. My Neohe packaging just cant fight.

This is what IMPRESS me the most. A test result of my PSU. Now, how many maker include this info inside? Sorry, i really dont know since i dun always play with PSU. This really impress me. The serie no is correct, so its a test result of my psu. The name of the tester was also there! Date tested to be 21/11/2007. Not bad, my is still quite a new stock. Test was carry out in taiwan, by Fastauto (www.fastauto.com.tw).

People who know me well knows i swear by modular. I have mention many times that modular is the way, cos it enable better cable management. But today, i wanna try something diff. Using a non modular psu and see how well i manage the cables. Well...picture below...not bad i should say! But then, i still swear by modular psu, haha.

PC Power & Cooling is a premium brand, much like Soldam and Eizo. And thats one of the reason why not many people have it. They make high end PSU and they are also the OEM psu maker for Dell PC. They were not available so commonly and their pricing always carry a premium. The only way to own one was to direct ship from US. And mind u, PSU wasnt light to start out with, its heavy for most.

OCZ technology came in recently and brought over PC Power & Cooling. And that can only mean one thing, marketing this brand thru OCZ channels. Long gone the standard PCPC packaging and they redesign the whole PCPC packaging.

Now the question, why go for PCPC psu when you can get a similar performance psu from other brand and they cost cheaper and perform better for some? Well, to me, its NOT about performance all the time. PCPC is a brand that i really want to own for a very very long time, much like soldam. Ever since the first time i saw their 510W. To me now, its a dream come true. Its more of like a passion to me then anything else, even performance. The brand itself is enough. =)

This PSU warranty is by BL. BL ask u, why i didnt see the BL sticker outside? But pctheme gave me a BL warranty card and also promise me that stocks are really from BL.

You can get this PSU at PCtheme for S$213.

Hope you enjoy!

surprised that 80/92mm fan can be so quiet and effective at cooling.

This PSU is longer because of a extra small space inbetween the compondents and fan.

Ya, coming from a modular background, the cable management is real hard!
