Synology DS109 NAS review

Synology Disk Station DS109 NAS - PCkoloji.com

Top Performance Award

"DS109 has most of the features of dual disk supporting Disk Stations. Single disk support can be limitation for the storage area. Also RAID options are missing. That's why it is better choice for people who would like to try network storage for the 1st time. Synology Disk Station Manager 2.1 has more features than previous versions. It is tradition for Synology to continue software updates for the existing Disk Station owners and we highly appreciate it. Most certain they will continue updates and make Disk Station Manager even better! Ajax based management and numerous applications are useful and functional, makes life easier for users.

Our previous Synology reviews were concluded with positive feelings. We will repeat one more time; this is a great multi-functional device. Full of features and will make users happy. From the performance point, DS109 deserves the highest marks. You should choose Gbps router and a fast SATA disk to get the highest performance. We must not forget to say that power usage is extra low. There are so many useful power options like scheduled on / off, restore after AC power loss etc. Synology did homework very well and also prepared 2.5" disk adapter. Turkish language support is an another advantage."

Most economical is to use the DLink DNS 320. Performance is so so, but price is the most affordable.

Any thing more expensive, you are better off getting a low power pc yourself.

Atleast it;s hard to justfy spending $1000 on NAS for a home network.
