    VR-Zone's PCI Express Current Booster Mod

    Today's Graphics Display Cards come in several variants. There are the power-hungry ones which usually belong to the high-end category of cards. These require a power connector directly from the power supply to supply enough current on the +12v line to the card. For the mid-range cards, however, many of them do not come with power connectors, since the current they draw are within the specifications of the capability of the modern-day . This takes away the hassle of plugging in the power connectors for the user. However, this convenience comes at a price: There is a limit to the amount of current supplied to the card. When we overclock these cards, especially for the heavy-duty overclockers who modifies their cards and bioses for higher voltages, this limit can be easily hit. And this draws up a wall for the enthusiast, so no matter what cooling and voltages they apply, they find that their cards go no further.

    If your card does not have a power connector, what ever v mods you do you will not be able to increasde the current the slot will give to your card. Current and voltage are 2 different things.

    If you wanna play safe, you won't go beyond yourself as now we have no reason to say that hardware is the limitation. I will volt mod also and now studying volt mod on gpu first before go for something extrem such as volt mod the PCI-E slots

    yeah i understand that, but for me, cards without power connectors, i o/c until the max it is, rather not play with the mobo v-mod for the cards unless i strike toto or something just in case =P

    if you are limited by power if you vmod = lesser clocks it seems. it's like a CPU

    1.35v X 1800MHz = 67w. if let's say max is 67w:

    67w / 1.5v = 1620MHz

    1620MHz X 1.5 = 67w





    sham, is it also possible that you solder a molex directly on those cards whose PCBs has the original molex removed?

    yes that too. depends on which card though, some natively pci express ones do not have the circuitry for that.

    hmm nice I should try this hope its help my oc to 6600gt I also search for the power connector of 6600gt's pcie because there are some points on pcb for extra power but I don't know wich one is for 3.3v , 12v and gnd need some help with this

    the points are just like a pci-e power connector.... all are 12v / gnd

    but i'm sooo doing this for my new board...
    .

    i'm gonna have to find a PCI-e power connector solder it on. 550MHz Core and 650MHz Mem?
