    NVIDIA 7900GTX, 7900GT & 7600GT Voltage Mods

On top of our in-depth reviews of the newly launched 7900 and 7600 series of GPUs, we have also looked into the voltage regulation on each of these cards and we bring to the overclocking community the first Voltage modifications guide in the world for these cards! For the 7600GT all you need is a humble pencil to do it!

    Hi shamino.

Once again you on the front line

    I have some questions

    My most important one
For the 7900 GT is it possibel to use some of the TP points as with the 6800 card and 6600 GT.

Maybe we could have some of the VR users mesure the resistance ??
Seams that TP501 and TP503 could be used to do the Vmem for the 7900 GT?

When I by it my self I will measure and post but It will take some time :angle5:

ok i did the gpu v mod and the pencil mod to my 2 evga 7900gt oc sc (stock 550/1580) and really have not had much luck at all. at stock volts all the gpus would test at are 585, which was a liile disappointing. so i did the vm and they don't seem to respond much at all. one of the cards will complete 3dmark06 at 610 on the gpu @ 1.26v, however over 1.3 volts the systems gets a black screen or restart. the 2nd card did not preferorm as well as it did at stock volts after the mod. before the mod i was at 1.22 volts in 3d mode, after i removed the mod from this card i am at 1.19 volts in 3d mode. as for the memory mod it did not seem to like the voltage increase at all either, with it preforming worse after the vm than stock. i am very puzzled at this point as these cards seem to behave differently than any of my previose cards after volt mods. has anyone had any success getting past 600mhz on the 7900gts and if so what voltage was used? thanksin advance for your help.

Hope it is okay that I like to my blog?

And with that I could just stick the neadels in without riskin warranty

the same with you, i mod my 7600GT with a pencil yesterday. it do work for the GPU when i add 0.1v volts, but for the memory, it works worse after the vm volts added. i also get a black screen when the volts over 1.49v
is there anything wrong about these card? :confused5

    .

not sure, but i am glad to see that someone else has tried the mods. my 7900gts lock up completly at or above approx 1.29v on gpu. Also the high as i can see with a 50k ohm trimmer is approx 1.35v, shouldn't I be able to go higher.
I would really love some input from someone who has been successful with this mod. 10k in 06 is really teasing me at this point. lol

Uhh, quick ?. When I do the vGPU mod, I solder one end of the VR to the resistor and just ground the other end, right?

Shamino's probably busy with trying to break world records with his Venus and 7900GTXes . I'm sure he'll post a response after a while.

yep, i completly understand. did a litle more research and the overvolt protection kicks in at 1.290 2dv , which is 1.298 3dv
anything lower is fine but at 1.290 she will black screen every time with both or individual cards.
highest i can get is 615 on the gpu which isn't bad, BUT if the overvolt protection is gone she will SCREAM!
