For example, if the power is split into a pair of mosfets (usually more especially in multi-phase designs), you take half the current consumption increment and multiply it by the forward voltage of the mosfet (usually around 0.7v). For a 12A increase over both mosfets, this translates into approx. 4.2W of extra heat per mosfet. Furthermore, this is assuming the mosfets are always on.
This is not true as most of the time, there's stepping down of voltages involved. This means the mosfets are always switching on and off to regulate to the lower voltage. That means that if the duty cycle is averaging around 50%, you're looking at a mere 2.1W of additional heat per mosfet.
