After a REBOOT, 400GB hard-disk went from NTFS to RAW. Downloaded ptedit32 NEED HELP!

Did a search and found that many people have this problem, when the file system of the hard-disk corrupted, went from NTFS to RAW and thus unable to access the data & files in the hard-disk.
Tried to use scan disk and others, but UNABLE to proceed due the file system as RAW.

Downloaded ptedit32.exe application as advised by other websites, change "TYPE" to 07 as NTFS back again, NEED to set/configure "BOOT RECORD" as some people mentioned but do NOT know how to... sigh...

ANYONE have used ptedit32 application before??? PLEASE HELP/SAVE me...

    SOLVED!

I have found an application: TestDisk - CGSecurity
downloaded it and it worked! ... only after I CAN do a windows scan-disk on the drive FINALLY scanning for damaged file system and bad sectors... BUT before that CANNOT even scan-disk because of RAW status...

NOTE: This is the solution for damaged file system of a hard-disk which can happen quite often as researched on many other forums, BUT you still CANNOT save hard-disks which are damaged PHYSICALLY, especially bad sectors...

Mods - please put STICKY as this solution do NOT require any recovery programs and CAN RECOVER from NTFS -> RAW and back to NTFS !!!

Try using EASEUS, choose 1 that meets ur needs. Their software is quite good, so far I have managed to recover files that were deleted, file system that is corrupted.

I'm using Data Recovery Wizard Professional 5.0.1

TestDisk saved my a** some yrs back when my 1TB partition crashed & I couldn't access my data.
But I know my data was still intact, so used it to restore the NTFS partition info. 1TB back in action after the long hours of deep scanning.
