Best Promoter from Gain City-Sony booth!! Highly Recommended!! Nerd Mar 10th, 11, 09:09 PM #1

A very interesting experience to share with all today

Location: IT Show 4th Floor. Inner most left most Gain City booth for Sony TVs.

I was looking around for a really good 32" TV for use on my desktop PC. I went there to have a look at all the 32" screens. Since the price listed there usually has a stroke struck through it, I have to ask the promoters how much they are. So I consulted this guy on the models available and the pricing. After I got the price for a couple of models, I settled on the 32EX520 @ $999. Since I'm using it with a desktop and will be calibrating the monitor, I need individual RGB controls settings on the screen. He verbally confirmed that the 32EX520 has RGB controls. I asked for a remote to check the menu to confirm it as fact, rather than just sales talk. He told me that it's best to go to the main stores rather than here in ITshow to test all these things. I agree with that since usually exhibitions are quite crowded. But since I'm already here and it's the first day of the show, it should be fine yes?

He told me that he rather spend the time on other customers and clinch 4 to 5 deals than to entertain requests like that. After which he walks off to attend to a group of monks.

No names on his tag. Otherwise a very memorable guy. I was ready to take out my card to buy it liao, once confirm that there are indeed, individual RGB color controls within the menu. Too bad for him I suppose. With people like that, I can see why there are others complaining of the service standard in Singapore. I have experienced some VERY good service from others. But this one takes the cake in nearly giving me an aneurysm.

Do you really need to post his photo online? He might not be an accommodating salesman, but that doesn't mean you should shame him publicly right?

Phil
I do not overstate nor understate. I do not look rich or well heeled. But do people have to look rich or well heeled to buy these things? Am I walking into LV Shop during sales? Or am I attending a black suit event?

The situation here is that I approach him, not the other way around. Obviously I'm interested in finding out the price, as well as what my options are. Instead of closing the deal, he brush off potential customer who approached him.

If he is worried about being shamed, there is no indications of it in either his mannerisms, behaviour, or choice of words when talking to me.

I've just checked the EX520 series manual from online. Apparently there's no mention of individual RGB brightness controls. Looks like that guy didn't know what he was talking about when he said yes. Thumbs down to promoters who don't know what the customer is asking and cannot be bothered to check.

For those who are interested, Samsung 32C5000 has individual RGB offset and gain controls! Looks like I'll go with that one instead.

SG service still need to improve a lot. they too much about making money instead of customer satisfaction. In fact, many promoters are just part timers who doesn't know much

For me, I will have did my research at home before purchasing at these fairs.
These fairs to me were never about service, but about sales volume.

EX520 series are pretty new, I still need to be there to see the black levels, colors, saturations, gamma, etc.

I did do some research at home but for newer models, there are obviously lesser info about them.

There are good deals to be had, depending on what one is looking for.
