PMP player that don't need video conversion stevexiekunshen Apr 17th, 09, 10:30 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi guys,

I am looking for a simple PMP player that do not need the troublesome video conversion when loading videos into the player. I do know ipod requires some kind of software to do so and creative requires a video size conversion for its Zen X-fi which takes hours before I can put a video into the player.

Looking for something that cost around $300 for my sister birthday. Any ideas?

I miss the old days with creative zen vision M. Just put any video in and you can play it all.. lol.

Doesn't exist.

Even Creative Zen Vision M doesn't "put any video in and you can play it all". Try a H.264 MKV and see it choke.

The most you can is to streamline the conversion process and make it painless to convert. Converting also saves space and provides better picture quality.

There is no pmp that supports every format/codec. But there are bunch of pmps out there which plays almost every format. But i think with ur budget, its impossble to get one. They will easily cost over 600

The Samsung P3 can play quite a few formats without conversion. Check out http://media.generationmp3.com/lebel...cification.xls
Intel Xeon E3110 → MSI P35 Neo2-Fr → XV 9600GT → Corsair XMS2 1GBx2 → WD 160GB Seagate 320GB → LG GH20N 20X SATA → CoolerMaster M520 → 19' AL1914 LCD

I think it depends on your video more.....

If your video resolution is a lot higher than the PMP screen resolution, you would need to convert to a compatible resolution....

I think a lot of no-brand PMP does support a lot of formats without needing to convert....
