1)Do i have the time to study?

Bro there's a PNS thread just for stuff like this Police National Service

Anyway, how it works is that when you're in HTA for your training, you'll be in there for the whole week and out only for the weekends. Since you'll have admin time at night (i.e. no training), you can use that time to study. Whatever time you have at home can be used to that purpose too.

NOTE: You'll have to find time off to study for the Law stuff that they teach you inside so you can pass the test. Failure would mean re-course and another 1 month inside. Other stuff that would take up your time would be polishing boots, ironing shirts and mingling with your squadmates.

After you're out of HTA, you'll be posted to a vocation. Vocation-wise, you won't be that much of a disadvantage cause they love PES A dudes. The only limit is that since you're O-Lvl, the highest you can go is SC/CPL or maybe SC/SGT (depending on the new system; I'm not too sure about that 'cause it used to be just Diploma, A Lvl and Uni grads who are given SC/SGT). Operational vocations (i.e. shiftwork) would have you do a morning then a night shift, followed by 2 days of off; you can use that time to mug. If you're office-hours, then whatever time you have, just go ahead. If you're doing it in the office, don't get caught. Otherwise, whatever you do at home is to your own discretion.

Technically, I've never seen SPF stop anyone from furthering their studies part-time. What you have to watch out for is that you might be too shagged out (mentally and physically) to do any substantial work after your shifts. And of course, your superior needs to be understanding. If you got a sucky boss, then tough luck bro.

Thank you very much for your reply,

Does that mean that if i fail that law stuff one month will be added to the 2 years?

is there any slim chances of me getting into oct/ocs?

just in case my exam timetable clashes with my combat units will they give me leaves?

Nope it won't be added, don't worry. Your stay in HTA would just be extended.

As for OCT, it's really really really slim.

And nope, they won't grant you "free" leave. You'll have to apply for leave using either your allocated leave days or EDO hours (something like army's off) if your exams clash with your shifts.

Deatheater summed it up well.

Just to reiterate, your education qualification would only determine your starting rank (after training- SC instead of SC Corporal). It will not affect your posting/vocation.

A lot of the staff departments would want A Levels/Diploma but dont worry about which posting you'll get if your concern is studies. There will surely be time to study in any of them but you will have to work a little hard to balance both.

Hi bro, when are u enlisting? If u are going to POP before Olevels, then u can easily study outside when u knock off from work. But when u are inside, I think u wont have that much time to study.

And for Olevels, not impossible for OCT, provided u get top in entire intake. Best in IPPT results + law studies + OC recommendation. Usually each intake only 1 or 2 make it into OCT. If u are to climb the ladder the normal way like every single PNSF, the max u can go is just SC/CPL. Impossible for Olevel holder to hit SC/SGT unless miracle or something. I'm Olevel holder myself so yea man it sucks

And if u are having exams at most your OC will let u out of camp(if havent POP) just to take exams. Only regulars have "study leave". NSmen dont have such privileges.

So.. All the best bro

Tsk tsk.. I always felt OC Squads should be put through a course with MOE.. they should be made into proper, certified teachers and mentors, because that's what they do, and the bulk of the Police Officers' Basic Course is theoretical.

Tracom should operate like a school/institution.

Haha. That would be good! But I would say, not every OC needs such courses. There are some OCs that are just awesome. Not only good in classes, their caring and interesting. Gota love that J faizal or what. Cant remember his name. But has a J something. Cool guy!
