    Which Fibre ISP?

Current singnet contract running out. fibre install in early may.
still pondering over which isp to choose from.
Mostly playing games, planning to run game servers. Download/Upload alot.

SuperInternet seems out of the question
More on deciding between M1, Singnet and Starhub now. Need good latency to TW, HK, JP and hopefully Australia. Korea would be a bonus but their routing is a mess anyway.

Also, I can use my own router for any ISP now right? No restrictions?

Cheers and thanks for the help. Hoping to get a reply for lennard too hehe.

I shall be signing up for M1 fibre. Will let you know how it goes.
This is a computer generated message, no trees were harmed, a number of electrons were, however inconvenienced. In short, no signature is required.

If you are that "hardcore gamer", signup for Starhub MaxInfinity Supreme. If not, I suggest get a 200mbps Singnet. But overall, get a high-end router if you want to set up game server and play at the same time.

SI is going to become a joke soon *sigh*

I need to open 2 tabs to watch a show on youtube now ... if I need to open 1 more tab to load as I watch youtube then SI is just the same as my Starhub Cable 30M previously.

im intending on building a pfsense rig. what hardware do the isp's give for the RG? i was hoping it would have a gigabit switch which i can use. Also sourcing for intel NIC's, where to buy them in singapore?

torn between singnet and m1 at the moment. been told that the singnet proxy is not good. 200mbps steep price atm.

are the international speeds both up and down?

hopefully under 200 for the router. need to find some intel NIC's which i have no idea where to get exactly. havent searched sls yet though. 100mbps enough i guess. 15mbps upload should be enough for the foreign players for now.

on singent adsl at the moment, been very reliable. hope its the same for the fibre.

<$200 for a x86 router must use Atom or even Pentium 3 or 4. Waste electricity.

The newer Pineviews are fine. Actually, you can buy a regular D525MW and get the RG250GS to use VLAN trunk instead of buying a separate NIC.

In terms of processing power, you can expect about 400Mbits/s of NAT throughput if you don't run intensive add-ons like Snort or Squid. VPN throughput will probably be about 80Mbit/s.

For Intel NICs, especially the PCI(X) NICs, look on eBay. The PCI-X (PCI slot compatible) PWLA8492MT - Intel Dual Port Gigabit Server Adapter, can be found new in box from eBay for US$29.90 inclusive of free shipping.
