Help with router John_Chee Apr 12th, 07, 06:58 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi all,
I am currently using D Link DSL 2640T. I was playing around with the settings to try out portforwarding on my router but it seems like the thing has became worse until my bitcomet cannot connect. I was using dynamic IP at first and read on the site that static IP was needed but it didn't manage to work so now I am back on dynamic. I reset my router and now have a lot of problems.

1. I cannot access my router configuration web page in my browser on my LAN rig. But on my wireless rig i can access it. No proxy was enabled and both rigs are on the settings as shown below.

2. Everytime when my router boots up, I see the ADSL light stops blinking already and it remains lighted which shows that the ADSL connection is already connected. But I cannot access any sites on both my computers until after about 5 mins. When I test using the router config page, it shows that the Testing ADSL Synchronization FAILED.

So I wait until its able to connect and come and post this.

3. I think the main problem lies here that I am connected to the internet but it says my internet connection is disconnected and when i try to connect it fails.

Here are some of my other settings:

Desperately need help. Thanks.

I have already highlighted the problems that my network is not working normally. Like what i said the ADSL connection is connected but I cannot surf for the 1st part. And the problem is still not solved. Also i cannot access my router config page from my LAN rig.

I am not very good in networking so would apreciate your help.

Here you go. My networking skills not very good so i apologise for the trouble caused. Have to get the network back to normal before continuing any portforwarding.

Here are the screenshots of my current settings:

yah the 2 rigs as what you described wireless and lan. So now both are on static IP then I reboot the router. Still having the same problem cannot start surfing after the ADSL is up.

i am still wondering why i am unable to connect to this side. Shouldn't have played with the settings now i have more trouble lol.

I can access the web but by right i should be able to surf once the ADSL light stops blinking. But now even after it stops must wait for like 3 mins like that then can start to surf.

And i am thinking for doing a software upgrade for my router but i cannot even access the page through lan. The webpage says cannot do on wireless. So i also dunno what to do now.

http://portforward.com/english/route...U/BitComet.htm
follow this guide
skip the static address part
use 192.168.1.2 (for your lan)
use 192.168.1.3 (for your wireless)
as server ip address
rmb to tick the box at post #6 to reserve ip
