Singnet Liar!!! penguin1 Apr 21st, 07, 04:08 PM #1 (permalink)
I'm subscribled to 1.5mbps plan..

i have a habit of running a speed test whenever i feel the internet is slow. Never have i once got a download speed anywhere near 1.5mbps.. i remembered the highest i got was 1.3mbps and only once.

i just did 3 different speed test online (dslreports, speakeasy & cnet) and i have a download spd ranging from 291kbps to 770kbps inconsistently. FYI, only my computer is connected to the internet in the house right now. i'm not downloading anything. not even on msn.

291kbps to 770kbps . BS. & I thought adsl is suppose to be very stable

arghz i wonder whats up with singnet. I doubt it's the problem of my router or modem.

you should be doing your speedtest from SingNet's servers

http://www.singnet.com.sg/technical/helptools/

speedtest is not accurate for determining one's bb speed
i too was like you when i first got my 10mbps
run the test from the link above and if indeed you are not hitting anywhere close to the speed you subscribed for ...
then go call singnet and shoot em down

cheers

PS : if the link doesnt run in FireFox, try IE instead

I suggest you give SingNet a call to get an engineer down to do a line test.

Of course distance matter, but there should be at least one ADSL concentrator per block. The problem you are experiencing could be due to poor line quality from the ADSL concentrator to your unit phone line outlet.

Yea, if u're able to find out, it will be good information to help isolate the problem.
