Wireless and Vista Ultimate wzee2 May 4th, 07, 03:28 PM #1 (permalink)
Hi,

I installed Vista ultimate recently on my com and dont know whether u guys have this problem. im using the Starhub Motorola SBG1000 Modem together with the Linksys WUSB54G USB wireless adaptor.

Everthing is fine except that when i play Dota, there will be occasional freezes. This goes on entirely thru the whole game and really pisses me off. Ive tried everthing from switching off the firewall , to configuring the router/modem settings. My last hope is that by connecting the ethernet cable directly from the router to my mobo will solve this but it really defeats the purpose of having wireless.

Hence I seek u internet gurus to help me solve this problem. THanks in advance~

Since ya using a router, that means others are sharing the connection with you right? So must be got somebody hogging the bandwidth... And ya using the router Starhub gave you right? Oh, and also, what's ur com specs?

Hi thanks for the reply,

My com specs are C2d 6300 (3.3gig) 2 gig ram tracers , fsp 700watter evga 8800 gts 320 mb.

Regarding the bandwidth , nah i don tink anyone is hogging it as i have not enabled shared network. anyone who wishes to connect needs to know the pass. And yea its the router starhub gave me. anyone has this problem too?

it's not wireless, but the linksys dongle or the drivers it came with.

Erm... your motorola is not a router. It's a modem. There are several reasons why your torrent is slow, so I suggest you go read up and check it out before spending money unnecessarily.

100 is already good, the problem is most probably your torrent.

what do you mean by "not detected"?

in network connections, does the LAN connection appear? even when disconnected?

ermmm how do i disable the wireless? from the modem website? the 192. blah blah blah? or is it from my computer?

actually my main point would be to fix the wireless problem. are there any known progs running in the backgrd for vista which eats bandwidth?

i'm quite sure it's the driver. borrow a usb dongle from a friend that is different and see if the problem persists.
