utorrent causing computer to freeze Shmutt May 9th, 07, 05:18 AM #1 (permalink)
My computer seems to be freezing periodically from time to time when utorrent is running. I have looked at the Task Manager and there seems to be no other process/service running thats taking up CPU time. The freezing lasts only about 0.5-1s. Not too scary, but irritating enough for me to look for a fix.

Is anyone else getting the same problem? Should I change client? I like utorrent for its simplicity and have been using it since ver 1.3. Have been using the latest 1.6.1 for quite some time now. Not sure why only now its like that.

Theres no error message given. The freezes are happen at random intervals.

Does the CPU Usage state 100% use when the hang happens?
I thinking whether of these two possible solution

1) Note down your utorrent settings. Remove the s/w and its settings in c:\documents settings\username\application data\utorrent. Download a new copy of utorrent and reconfigure it.

2) Reduce your half tcp connections and other settings.

Nope. If CPU usage is 100% i cant see it during the 1 second freeze. Even when I checked, the cpu usage taken by the utorrent process is a nice 0.

Hmm, maybe I will reinstall everything lah.

When you installed uTorrent it would have warned you that it is not compatible with your Nf4 firewall. Disable the firewall.
