Need help on wireless fnckfear Aug 19th, 07, 05:59 PM #1 (permalink)
Guys from my room to my dad's room is about 15 metres apart and the wireless connection is rather weak.

Is there anyway to boost the range?

Repeater is an equipment that repeats the signal to maintain its strength. I have yet seen a repeater myself. U can go do search online.

A repeater is an electronic device that receives a weak or low-level signal and retransmits it at a higher level or higher power, so that the signal can cover longer distances without degradation.

They're in the market, normally sold with the name "range extender", which are more descriptive than just "repeater".

15m doesn't seem too far though. What do you want to gain by "boosting the range"? Not fast enough or what?

Must check which router you are using. Not all routers can be used with repeaters.

Or change router. The Belkin universal range expander costs $95, whereas Buffalo's High Power router costs $99. And No way the range expander can beat the signal output from the High Power router.

30-40 is provided using higher end routers. Basic routers like D-Link 524 can't cut it. Got an customer came looking for solution cause his 524 cant pass through 1 wall. Sold him an Whr-Hp-G54 and cased close for him.

Probably in your case also same ba. . .

WGR614 is the entry model for Netgear. Anyway, getting another router to join your current Netgear will cause conflict. Best if just simply replace it. Seen too many people having problems with basic routers nowadays especially for signals going through walls.
