I remember sending Paypal like USD$2 to register for something. Then I entered the code wrongly and I gave up end up didn't get any refund for that.

It's a mailing list from their website. But they have not sent anything out in the past month or so. 5.16 was never announced I think. Even the 5.15 thread in their forums disappeared after being bashed by many.

Hey guys a while back i did a prove of concept that any uTik gear with passive poe capabilities can be modded into a .3af standard active poe.

I will be converting my 250gs that i have lying around. The current passive poe topology basically have all the necessary parts to make this possible.
1)Center tap magnetics, bridge rectifiers on all 4 pairs.
2)Reverse polarity protection diode on DC input. Prevents backfeed to the DC input when both DC and poe is present, provided that the DC input voltage is lesser than the poe.

Passive: Magnetics>Bridge rectifier>Supply input
Active: Magnetics>Bridge rectifier>Powered device controller>DC-DC converter>Supply input.

The controller board

DC-DC converter

Both boards have small footprint which can be cramped easily into the little box.

Moment of truth.

Tested with a gigabit .3af injector (also hombrewed). I did a quick iperf and still manages to get gigabit wire speed no performance degradation or whatsoever. Now it's a 'real' poe ready device.
Well what do u guys think? Any comments or suggestions?
Currently obsessed with DC-DC converters

Hi,

I just upgrade my brodband to singtel fiber.

I'm using mikrotik switch rb250g and rb750g router.

I configure rb250g according to guide in other thread:
Port1 : vlan 10,20,40,40
Port2 : vlan 10 - rb750g
Port3: vlan 20 - mio stb
Port4: vlan 30&40 - 2wire for mio voice

Rb750 will be my inet gateway and i've configure and its working, i have 1 webserver behind this router and i configure port forward nat as well hairpin nat.

All is working except i need to put proxy setting on my browser, without proxy i can only access google.com.sg and very slow.

Question, do you guys thing there is some issue with my firewall seting? Cause proxy use port 8080 and probably not affected by my firewall like masquaderate, nat etc

Or its purelly singtel issue that their transparent proxy does not work so i need to set proxy setting.

Its very tedious to set up proxy on every machine i have.

Any idea, i'll post my firewall setting tonite.

Appreciate you kind response.

I change my network topology become:

ONT -> RB750G -> Desktop

The internet works like a charm, no need to set proxy on my browser.

I'm curious to find out why the tutorial on the bellow thread make me need to setting proxy on my browser:

Any guru kind to share

try this:

The other way is to connect power to RB751G-2HnD while holding reset button.
Reset button needs to be held until "ACT" light stops blinking. This will make
RB751G-2HnD to look for Netinstall server on ether1 port as well.

then do netinstall again n do not click on keep settings.

Can anyone help?

Would like to replace DIR655 with RB751G.

Right now ONT > RG > DIR655

Would like to do ONT > RG > RB751

Is it a must to enable the DHCP on RG? Is it possible for RG to be the gateway and RB751G to serve the DHCP so the RG is just to provide internet access to RB751G and digital voice.

Would be great if I can do ONT > RB751G > RG.

These are the info I can see from SU to the RG config file.

Voice VLAN ID: 1107
Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
Default gateway: 12.1.0.1

Internet VLAN ID: 1103
Subnet mask: 255.255.224.0
Default gateway: 175.156.192.1

TR069 VLAN ID: 5
Subnet mask: 255.240.0.0
Default gateway: 11.0.0.1

Are information sufficient?

I believe I might need to get a RB250GS anyone have available stock?

Can do ONT > RB250GS > RB751G & RG (Voice)

i was doing something similiar. ONG > RG > (1)RB250GS > 751 > (2)RB250GS

there are other stuffs in (1)RB250GS like media player, small NAS. anything to (2)RB250GS will be "firewalled" at least that's the plan...

Thus, i was trying to do DHCP relay on the 751 to RG but some wrong configuration cause me to be locked out form the 751. Triple confirm the settings before applying and still...locked out. user problem i guess. Docs here Manual:IP/DHCP Relay - MikroTik Wiki

I think that's what you need too, to relay the DHCP. Let me know if it works for u.

Cool will read on it. Going to pick up the RB250GS later in the day.

I'll most likely go ONT > RB250GS then VLAN tag the port for voice for RG256 and internet for RB751G.

Any idea if RB751G usb port support printer?

Hi,

I wish to know if rb2011 is able to configure in the following

GE Port 1 - WAN/ONT
GE Port 2 - LAN
GE Port 3 - LAN
GE Port 4 - LAN
GE Port 5 - LAN
FE Port 6 - LAN
FE Port 7 - LAN
FE Port 8 - LAN
FE Port 9 - VLan 20 for MioTV
FE Port 10 - Vlan 20 for MioTV

Is it easy to configure as I only have minor experience with RB250GS.

Hope someone can answer my concerns. Thanks

If you have experience with RB250GS, you will easily understand how to set up this settings.

RB2011 have to "two" switch chip. Since you are tagging the Mio on FE port, I don't think it has any problem.
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzt Blitz.
