Hi,

Can the ONT be replaced with our own kit? I have a Cisco Catalyst running the ipservices image which should be able to interface directly with OpenNet fiber if I install the right SFP (GLC-BX-U20/GLC-BX-D20)

Are you sure about this. GPON and AE is totally different, it is not compatible with each other. So, try to ask your technical team first. What we are talking here is, replacing the Zhone router as a whole. So, connecting it directly to the Catalyst using a off the shelf SFPs is possible?
Bzzzzzzzzzzzzt Blitz.

Ah sorry. must have misunderstood.

The zhone will be present. And convert the signal from open net box using the zhone, the zhone can bridge to the switch.

Still need the Zhone lol.

On the bright side, Finisar has recently demoed a SFP ONT. Not on market yet tho.

Nope, you will need to pay for OpenNet to run the fibre cable into your home and install the wall mounted fibre termination point (small box with 2 sockets facing down, with OpenNet logo) before VQ is able to connect you.

The installation is chargeable by OpenNet and price is just under $300 (could be more if you require a longer fibre run)

am using UNoTelly now with my VQ subscription, over 2 Apple TVs, two desktops, and two laptops. IT'S AMAZING can share so many streams over one Hulu Plus subscription at only US$8/mth! Screw you ST and SH Only reason why i still have ST is for BPL soccer.
