I was browsing through the online classified ads when I saw the advertisement of 'High speed internet connection Device without mthly subscription'?





Is this a scam or a new technology?

High Speed Internet connection device? So it means the modem cost $350 and dun need monthly subscription. LOL...

Technically speaking... It's possible with a bit of hacking on the modem firmware.. Just highly illegal..

Dont think it's possible... cable modem are 2 way...unlike cable TV ... so long they do not tag your mac id to their back end server there's no way u can get a proper internet service.

If I'm not wrong.... its seems like the person probably have a high-speed T1 or T3 line....and then he "leased out" the bandwidth to other subscribers at a fixed $350 price...

But as to how he's going to do it....its up to anyone's guess....

If you can already flash and hack the firmware, nothing's stopping you from replacing the Mac ID on the modem.

Unless u r working inside, even with the mac id there shd be some enc/dec tandards. I'm not v sure how fast they can look into in but they do tagged mac id for example to an area for example AM is ang mo kio.
