Cisco 1841 + Singtel Symlink configuration goondu86 Sep 18th, 09, 01:23 AM #1 (permalink)
Ok, as per topic, on the verge of giving up. Know nuts about Cisco WAN configuration, and the SDM isn't friendly after all. Does anyone have an inkling of what needs to be done, especially for the WIC configuration? Currently have no idea on how to set the controller, since the card i'm supposed to used with the Symlink line is this: WIC-1SHDSL-V3.

Did Singtel give you the basic configuration?

Cisco1841 is a nice box.

Basic settings would be to do a "config t" from enable mode, go into interface config, "no shut" it, and key in the commands given by ISP.

Well, supposedly the Cisco 1841 is one of the starter routers but that's not the issue here, the experience gained should be useful. Have some basic experience in Cisco command lines during the poly days but that's like super simple stuff since routing are done through serial interfaces or our basic fast ethernet.

One of the funny things is that the WAN card doesn't show the 'CD' LED, so got one of the Singtel technicians to troubleshoot, but it looks like a dead WAN card since the router brought down could 'sync' to the Singtel SDSL. Replacement card didn't work also. Some reading on the cisco website showed me that the card is supposed to have the controller set to SHDSL, but Singtel's 'basic config' uses DSL. Who's right?

Problem solved with a single line, the card does need to be set to GSHDSL!
