LAN Teaming 2 NICs, NIC 1 (StarHub 8Mb) NIC 2 (SingNet 3Mb) IversonGarnett (x3m) Oct 25th, 09, 03:56 AM #1 (permalink)
Hi all. I apologise if this is a noob question as I know nuts about networking. XD
Anyway as mentioned, is it possible for me to do LAN teaming on my SNBB and SHBB connections on my current Realtek onboard GBE NICs. And will I benefit from doing it?

Thanks in advance
My 2 ISPs are connected to my PC right now as per below.
SNBB > Aztech DS1000ER Modem > NIC1
SHBB > Motorola SB5100 Modem > D-Link DGL-4300 > NIC2

Not gonna work as teaming only works when both ends are in teaming mode.
the only way u can accomplish is with a multi wan port firewall with round-robin loadbalancing. Try like pfsense, smoothwall.
tough some apps dosent work well with loadbalancing. ie. games, youtube but ftp http works well
This would require additional work like policy routing
hope this helps

The immediate benefit you get is redundancy by having two default gateways, each of differing metric.

Most home users I know with such implementations are full time telecommuters, or stock brokers who cannot tolerate a Internet disconnection.
