Ok, it's not much of a guide worth being Stickied but at least i hope it helps a bit for a few ADSL noobs.

Try Internet Explorer 4.0

You will never get the Full speed that you are supposed to get. Only slightly Lower.
If you Have 1Mbps Connection 128kbytes per second you will get at most 110 or 115 Kbytes max speed.

im on snbb 10mbps and i can't even see the d/l speed leh
it took me less than 5 seconds to d/l the ie4 leh

just tested again on my smc7904wbra with firmware 0.47
d/l speed fast until i also cannot see how fast is it leh
