Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic Platinum 1GB Overclocked w/ Voltage Adjustment

From the word go, there's been strong talk that the GTX 460 is an overclocking master. Considering the fact that Palit offered us a core 125MHz over the stock one, we're going to believe those rumors. Let's be honest, though; companies never push a card as hard as it can go, so while we're extremely impressed with what Palit has done we're sure there's going to be more room under the hood of this 1GB variant of the GTX 460.

Today our main aim is to get this model to outperform the GTX 470 Golden Sample from Gainward that we've been using in our GTX 460 reviews recently. This GTX 470 is no ordinary card, though; Gainward have taken the time to overclock the card which means we're making the job a little harder for the GTX 460 card.

    Cool review. Thanks.

You should have tried different fan speeds though and study better the fan speed (and thus noise) to temperature ratio.

Everyone should remember that Palit GTX 460-cards that you see in these reviews and what you can actually buy are different. All of those "customer"-cards are missing this one heat sink that happens to be in every review card.

They have released this bios update that will reduce the fan noise on these customer-versions, but they are still different cards than reviewed. Besides updating bios for your already purchased card will take away your warranty.

I'd like a link of where did you read that. Not that I don't trust you, but this is too important to let it pass this easily.

Moreover, I don't see any problem for the warranty to be invalid, if you flash your card with a BIOS that is perfectly suited for it and is made by the manufacturer itself. Now if you flash it with a modded BIOS, then that's a different thing altogether.

Saw it here last night :Palit GeForce GTX 460 Sonic could have issues !

Will warranty be void if the bios is from the manufacturer itself ? don't remember warranty will be voided if you flash to the latest bios as we flash our mobo bios from the manufacturer as well...unless you flash it with a 3rd party bios than it could void the warranty if i am not wrong.
